The Hardy Rocks OpeningCompetition takes place the first week of the curling season and gives an opprotunity for all the curlers new and old to practice their various shots before getting into the regular season. The event consists of various little competitions where each player has to make specific shots like a draw or take-out, or could have to try using a stick, or may have doubles game with another team. It is finishes after one week. The players compete for the Hardy Rock opening competition trophy which appropriately is a Large Rock.
